It only takes a small number of people to make a change.
Three types of people are identified by Gladwell in Tipping Point as needed to create this change.
Connectors – a wide spread good connections and a large social network that they are able to connect with
Mavens – individuals naturally inclined towards gathering knowledge and information, that is then able to be shared and explained to others
Salespeople – energetic and charismatic people, able to sell an idea to others. They are able to identify how to make a idea or product more attractive to an audience.
I personally am able to identify myself partly as a connector, and also a maven. I love to increase and share knowledge, although perhaps not in every area of information I come across – there are many things that I love to learn about, and also really enjoy sharing things with other people. I also enjoy meeting lots of new people, and a few times during this project have been told that I ‘seem to know everyone’. I was nominated as the connector in our small initial cluster group.
